Custom Dictionary for Amazons Kindle

In early 2025, I decided to read more in English and improve my language skills. I bought a Kindle, but I was disappointed with its built-in English-German dictionary. It only provided single-word translations without showing all possible meanings. Furthermore, you need to swipe twice to the right to get to the translation.

After a quick research, I found this dictionary for just € 2,99. After purchase and download, you can select it instead of the “Oxford Dictionary of English” (Settings —> Device options —> Languages and dictionaries —> Dictionaries). No more swiping right twice and much better translation.

Another neat Kindle feature is the vocabulary builder. Long-pressing a word automatically adds it to this tool, where you can practice with flashcards. The vocabulary builder even displays the original sentence from which you added each word. But so far, I did not use the vocabulary builder much to be honest.

Why a Blog in 2025?

For quite some time, I thought it would be nice to have my own little corner on the internet. Perfectionism was holding me back, but at the beginning of 2025 I wanted to get things going. And here we are, my blog is live.

I’ve been inspired by people I admire who also maintain their personal blogs. The ability to share thoughts, experiences, and expertise has fascinated me.

So from time to time, I would like to write about topics that are more or less important to me. Ideally, this will be of value to others as well.

My passion for the intersection of technology and the hospitality industry will most likely be reflected in my content. However, I don’t want to limit myself to professional topics.

On social media, content gets lost easily and I want to spend less time there, not more. This blog serves as my personal archive – a place where my thoughts, ideas, and experiences are preserved and easily accessible.

Here’s to new beginnings – welcome to my blog!
